Parish Pastoral Council

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is to assist the pastor in discerning the pastoral direction of the parish in light of both the Bishop’s and the larger Church’s vision for parish life.
The PPC is a consultative and advisory, not deliberative, body which provides the pastor with insights, perspective, and guidance on issues affecting the pastoral life of the parish..

PRAYER FOR THE COUNCIL

Help us remember that the seeds we sow often take time, patience and the nourishment of your grace. Remind us of your love; remind us that we are one, that you have brought us all here together, at this time at St. James, to serve the mission of this parish as only we can. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

The Parish Pastoral Council normally consists of eight to fourteen members of the parish, who are chosen by the pastor, taking into consideration the size of the parish.  Members serve two or three year terms, at the discretion of the pastor, that are renewable no more than once.  At the conclusion of two consecutive terms, a member may be reappointed only after a period of one year absent from council membership.

PPC meets the third Wednesday of the month throughout the academic year (with the exception of December).  While anyone is welcome to attend the meeting, the agenda items are brought forward by both the pastor and members of the PPC; additionally, discussion typically is limited to those on the council (as might be typical in a City Council Meeting).  Anyone wishing to have an item raised or discussed at a PPC meeting is invited to email our pastor () or one of the members of PPC (whose contact info is listed below).
