The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA – formerly referred to as the RCIA [Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults]) is a process for becoming a Roman Catholic for adults who have not been baptized, or who have been validly baptized into another Christian tradition. This journey into the Catholic faith takes a number of months and is not confined to a particular time of the year. Please contact Fr. Trask for more information.

Interested individuals from the Oberlin and Wellington communities gather on a somewhat bi-weekly basis at either Sacred Heart (Oberlin) OR St. Patrick (Wellington) parish; we gather in the Education Building at Sacred Heart on Sunday mornings at 11:45am.

For those participating in the 2026-2027 OCIA journey, we’ll be journeying via a combination of in-person and on-line processes; the online serving as seed-material for the discussions and conversations that will take place in-person. Additionally:

Our first gathering will be introductory in nature. We’ll get to know one another a bit, and speak about the OCIA process (by which participants will begin a life-long process of journeying to the Lord). We’ll also pass out some resources that you may find helpful as we embark upon the OCIA process. And we’ll decide whether Sunday at 11:45am is a good meeting time … or if another day/time is better for everyone’s schedule.
